Olli Ikkala is a physicist and a researcher in the field of nanoscience. He has been a professor in Aalto University since 1999 and currently acts as the professor of polymer and molecular nanostructures. He has been an Academy Professor of the Academy of Finland sice 2005. Ikkala has acted as the chairman of the Finnish Physical Society and been awarded the Emmanuel Merck award in 2002. In 2003 he was elected as a member to the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters.
