Happy Holiday Season & Thank You for the 2024

The year 2024 was a positive one for the Instrumentarium Science Foundation in many ways. We awarded a total of 1.5 million euros in grants to researchers in medicine, natural sciences, and technology. In addition, we received the foundation's first-ever bequest donation.
The year 2024 was in many ways a good year for the Instrumentarium Science Foundation. Early in the year, we distributed 1.5 million euros in grants to researchers in medicine, natural sciences, and technology. In late spring, we learned about a one-million-euro bequest from Dr. Anja Koskenoja. The donation is the first of its kind for the foundation — both in size and as a testamentary gift. With the donation, a dedicated fund named in honor of Anja and Matti Koskenoja has been established to support research on blood disorders.
The evaluation of the 2025 grant applications has been completed
As the year draws to a close, we have now completed the evaluation of grant applications for 2025. By the September deadline, over 400 applications had been submitted. The evaluation process began in October, carried out by external experts selected by the foundation. The review of all subject areas and grant types is now complete.
“We warmly thank all the evaluators for their contributions. Reviewing the applications is a significant effort that requires both subject matter expertise and vision,” says Markku Lämsä, attorney of the Instrumentarium Science Foundation.
Funding decisions will be communicated to applicants in January 2025, and the grant announcement event will take place on February 14, 2025, in Helsinki.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and thank you all for the collaboration. This Christmas, we are supporting the important work of the “Doctors Without Borders” with a donation.
